FGM bracelets are hand-made and carefully designed by socially vulnerable women within the Masai tribe in Kenya and Tanzania. Although each bracelet is different and unique, they all have one thing in common: a symbol of the fight against FGM. This is reflected in an “X”,representing women trapped in a diamond, imprisoned by the constant threat of violent mutilation by knife.

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) includes procedures that intentionally involve the total or partial surgical removal or injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons. Internationally recognized as a violation of women’s rights, this practice affects more than 140 million girls and women in the world and more than 3 million each year are at risk.
